Monti is all the rage right now: one of the oldest rioni (the ancient name for districts) in Rome, home to none other than Julius Caesar, is being “discovered” by influencers and regular tourists alike. Visitors are drawn to its unpretentious style, preferring it to the increasingly commercial Trastevere. Its restaurants and bars are deemed more authentic and closer to what locals would eat, with nearly no tourist traps in sight.
Nestled between the Colosseum and Via Nazionale, Monti boasts a rich history dating back to ancient Rome. Once a working-class neighborhood, it has evolved into a bohemian enclave while retaining its old-world charm. It’s in this maze of cobblestone streets and pastel-colored buildings that our newest acquisition is located.
On the street by the same name, one of the main shopping streets in the area, dotted with restaurants and bistros, Panisperna 193 is located in the quietest part of the road. The apartment features three bedrooms that can sleep four people in total. The flat is located on the first floor of a period building, with no elevator available, therefore we cannot recommend this accommodation to guests with a walking disability or those traveling with an infant or toddler.
Once past the entrance door, Panisperna 193 charms with its mix of decor styles: part of the original features of the apartment, like the doors, have been maintained, combined with modern fittings and details. Among them, a larger shower compared to other similarly sized apartments, an independent A/C system and a free WI-FI connection. One of the two small balconies will offer you views on city life, while the kitchen comes complete with all essentials to feel even more at home during your stay – even a washing machine!
The large (for central city standards!) living/dining room will allow you to set up dinner parties for your family while in Rome. And if you want to go out and explore, many attractions can be reached on foot from Panisperna 193: the Colosseum, the Basilica of St. Mary Major, the Palazzo delle Esposizioni museum, the Quirinale presidential palace, Trajan’s Market, the Domus Aurea, the Scuderie del Quirinale museum and more!
Nearby there is even more to discover: from the high street at Via Nazionale to the grocery stores, shops and bars in central Monti, you will find many stores worth your money in the area. All in all, a lovely solution to truly live Rome as a local!
