Have you ever dreamed of attending a horse riding event without all the formality of their British equivalents? If you’re visiting Rome in September, you can!
The FEI World Championships 2022 in Eventing and Driving will take place from 14th – 25th September in Rome, its first time in 24 years!
The venue chosen for the championships is even more significant: Pratoni del Vivaro was used for the equestrian events at Rome’s famed Olympic Games of 1960. You can definitely feel the history there!
The “Pratoni”, how locals fondly shorten the name of the area, are located in Rocca di Papa, some 25 kms south of Rome proper, which is part of the well-known “Castelli Romani”, the group of small towns historically dominated by the Popes or the powerful aristocrat families of Rome in the… olden days.
(We talked briefly about the Castelli Romani and their wines here.
An official website for the event is already online and weekly passes are already sold out, but on this page you can still get daily tickets or pick the ones for the different competitions.
On the same website, you will also find a useful page with directions depending on the means of transportation. If using the train, please keep in mind that the closest stop to the Pratoni del Vivaro is Frascati, on the FL4 regional train line, with departures from Roma Termini. The route must then be completed with a taxi ride. Car transfers from Rome are also a possibility. The complete list is here.
