Antonio Da Sangallo was already a star architect when he chose an empty lot on nascent Via Giulia to build his own house on: he had already designed Saint Peter’s Basilica and Palazzo Farnese in Rome (among others), Saint Patrick’s well in Orvieto and the Old Fortress in Livorno.

He never got to set foot in his last work, his most personal one: but you can!

Palazzo Sacchetti is one of the jewels of Renaissance architecture on astounding Via Giulia: part of its servants’ quarters has been converted into a luxury apartment, which is the latest addition to our portfolio of managed accommodations.

Dubbed Via Giulia 69 (not to be confused with the nearby Via Giulia flat, also managed by From Home to Rome), this apartment can sleep up to six people, and is located on a fifth floor which, for obvious artistic and historical reasons, cannot be fitted with an elevator. There are 55 steps in total in the building, plus an extra 10 from the entrance door of the flat to its rooms: please keep this in mind if you or someone in your party have a walking disability.
